New Member Welcome
Welcome to the growing community using our Launceston Area Parish Wildlife website. We hope that you'll enjoy sharing in our activities.
Website Function. The site presents all the information we are learning about Wildlife and Habitat in the area of about 20 by 20 miles in North Cornwall, based on Launceston. It has been designed to allow the presentation at three levels - for the individual member, for a group of members, such as parish or a study group ( eg Dormouse Study Group) and for the project as a whole - The Launceston Area Overview section.
Site Access. Most of the site is available to everyone, without logging in. The login is required for a member to see their own information - Nature Notes they may have recorded, their own Wildlife Diary records entered into the website and their personal information - or to add any information to the website, as we will explain later.
Help is Available. If it all seems very strange to you, then ask your parish coordinator or email Brian Stringer or Jenny Bousfield.
A first step. The help notes are quite comprehensive, so we suggest you start with the following sections:
* Layout of the Website. This describes how the website is arranged and tells you about the different sections.
* Using the Site. Explains how you can use and interact with the site; for example, join in with discussions & share your wildlife photos.
* Recording Schemes. Lists and describes the different ways that you can record species for the Parish Wildlife scheme.
* Activities. Outlines the kinds of activities & meetings that happen each month. For the current list, see the Home page and the Outline Event Program in the Launceston Area Overview.
When you are familiar with how the site works, browse the main site and refer to the Help Notes under the About Menu, when you need to. The Search Box in the left-hand margin is very useful, too.
