Golden Plover

We were disappointed not to be able to join the "Mince Piers" walk at Gimletts Mill to attempt to see golden plover, courtesy of Dave & Mary, as it had to be cancelled due to the forecast inclement weather - perhaps we are destined never to see golden plover out their way (last year they were conspicuous by their absence).  However, recenly following a walk on Kit Hill, Eric & I spotted two large flocks of them in adjacent fields at the bottom of the hill.  A day or two later they were much nearer to the road hedge and were individually clearly visible.  I failed in my attempt to get some really good photos when I returned with the wildlife group camera, only to find that they had moved into another field and were further away! Oh the joys of wildlife photography, but at least I have seen the golden plovers!
