This is a second visit to Winsdon, the home of Adam and Katy Paynter- the last one was almost washed out in July last year. The plan is to revisit the same area in lovely sunshine (!) with an expert on invasive pond weeds from Cornwall Wildlife Trust, a well as some of our own local talent and see what else we can find. The report of what we found last time will give you a feel for the area.We will do some pond dipping  and explore the grassland for invertebrates and flora. The distances are quite small, but wellies or boots are recommended for the wetland area.

There are two options for getting together for the event - meet at Winsdon at 13.45, parking at the farmhouse, or join Brian at the Countryman Inn between 12 and 12.15 for a bite to eat before the event. The pub is just past the North Petherwin turn-off the Bude Road at Langdon Cross on the map below. I will check to see if the Countyman would like us to book ahead.

Finding WinsdonIf you go straight to Windson, turn left off the Bude Road at  Langdon Cross towards North Petherwin Village, but turn next right after about 200m towards Clubworthy. Winsdon is signposted on the left from this road after about 2 miles, also signposted to Avallon Lodges. Pass bungalow and lodges; farmhouse is immediately on the left.

Wear clothes suitable for the day, bring cameras and any field guides for species groups that you are interested in.
